Kidnapped in the dead of night, Mohamedou Ould Salahi found himself in Guantanamo Bay not knowing why he was there. Eventually, he was given legal counsel and his quest to find his way back home began.

The Mauritanian is the true story based on the memoir Guantanamo Diary which Mohamedou wrote while incarcerated in the Cuban detention centre.

Kevin Macdonald, who is known for films such as The Last King Of Scotland and the Oscar winning documentary One Day in September, is in the director’s chair and has assembled an all-star cast to bring the story to life — Jodie Foster, Tahar Rahim, Shailene Woodley, and Benedict Cumberbatch.
