Steven Gerrard

Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

Steven Gerrard's 50th game in charge of Rangers in Europe but it didn't quite end as he would have liked. The result sees a first home defeat in the Europa League group stage for Rangers under Gerrard at the 10th attempt but it's no shame to lose to a side of Lyon's quality.

Rangers actually started brightly and looked up for it with Connor Goldson doing his usual of pinging passes over the top to create opportunities.

The defender was lucky not to see red for a poor tackle on Toko-Ekambi and it was the winger who got the opener for Lyon. A mistake in midfielder from Ryan Kent allowed him to breakaway and the Cameroon star curled one beyond the reach of Allan McGregor.
