A person has tragically died near a railway line in Wishaw. The alarm was raised shortly before 8am this morning (November 29), when officers were alerted to a casualty on the tracks at Wishaw train station.
Emergency services, including Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service, scrambled to the scene, but sadly the individual was pronounced dead upon arrival.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

An investigation has now been launched to piece together exactly what happened. A British Transport Police spokesman told Lanarkshire Live : "Officers were called to the line near Wishaw railway station at 7.50am this morning following reports of a casualty on the tracks. "Paramedics also attended and sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene.
