Queen 'to miss Trooping the Colour salute' for first time in 70 years

The Queen will reportedly not take the royal salute at the Trooping the Colour next month for the first time in 70 years. According to new reports over the weekend, Her Majesty, 96, has delegated the special responsibility to other senior members of the Royal Family.

It is believed that Prince Charles, Prince William, and Princess Anne will take the Queen's place and they will ride on the parade as colonels of the Irish Guards, the Welsh Guards, and the Blues and Royals.The Sunday Telegraph reports that the Queen is still hoping to attend some of June's upcoming ceremony, which also marks the celebration of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Her Majesty, 96, who was recently seen for her first outing in six weeks despite her health issues, got a little misty eyed as her granddaughter Lady Louise drove the late Duke of Edinburgh's carriage during the finale of the 'Gallop Through History' segment of the show.
