Pop-up opera shows to visit Lanarkshire venue

A Lanarkshire attraction will be hosting “pop-up performances” this summer as part of a nationwide tour by Scottish Opera.The stage will be set at the David Livingstone birthplace museum in Blantyre on Sunday, June 4, for three 30-minute shows described as “opera on a miniature scale”.Audiences will be able to see one of two performances of highlights from Die Fledermaus by Strauss, while another performance will bring Tchaikovsky opera Eugene Onegin to the local venue.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Meanwhile, younger primary school pupils in South Lanarkshire will also be treated to free performances of Puffy MacPuffer and the Crabbit Canals as part of the same touring programme, with the specially-created telling of the five waterways linking Scotland including Lanarkshire’s “hard working” Monkland canal.
