A police officer has died after being stabbed to death in a suspected terror attack in Brussels. A second officer was injured during the incident on Thursday evening at the Aarschotstraat in Schaarbeek.A Belgian official has said the violent attack is suspected to be linked to terrorism, with Belgian police confirming the alleged attacker was shot and "neutralised" after the stabbing.In a statement, police said: "One of our patrols was attacked by a man armed with a knife.

While other Belgian media reports claim the attacker shouted "Allah Akbar," or "God is great."As reported in the Mirror, the police officer fatally wounded in the incident was stabbed in the neck and later died in hospital, according to Le Soir newspaper.

After the incident, a police officer from a separate patrol neutralised the attacker by using his firearm. Emergency services quickly rushed to the scene as at least three ambulances descended on the street alongside personnel from the Brussels fire brigade.
