Plans to create new East Ayrshire 'pump track' sports facility take positive step forward

A community group in Stewarton has taken another step forward in its efforts to create a new sports facility in the town.Cycle Annick is currently involved in the application process for a community asset transfer for part of Cocklebie Park on the Stewarton to Dunlop road.The group’s vision is to build a new 'pump track' fun park with an undulating circuit for use by young people on bikes, skates, skateboards and wheelchairs.It will be free and fully accessible for the public to use during daylight hours and will be managed locally by an organising committee.Capital funding for Stewarton’s proposed pump track will be achieved through grant applications.Scott Mitchell, who heads up the group of enthusiasts, said: “Following an Initial period of community engagement in autumn 2021, we have managed to achieve funding for the completion of a feasibility study for our proposal.
