Peter Kay made his comeback to live stand-up comedy on Friday, December 2, much to the delight of his fans. The 49-year old broke down on stage as he received a standing ovation at Manchester's AO arena, at the start of what was his first live stand-up performance in 12 years.

Opening up his 110-day run of shows, the sell-out crowd went wild as the Phoenix Nights star walked out onto the stage. The overwhelming response and applause caused Peter to get emotional, the Mirror reports.

He told the audience: "'Aw you’ll have me in bits. Lovely Manchester you made me cry. I can’t believe I cried, where did it come from all that emotion?"Fans were delighted when Peter made the announcement of his tour last month, appropriately titled 'Better Late Than Never'.And, to combat the cost of living crisis, he made the decision to charge only £35 for a ticket - which is the same price as they were back in 2010.

But this gesture wasn't reflected amongst the greedy touts, with Twitter being swarmed with people trying to get £155 for a single ticket to the sold-out shows.
