Perthshire man launched sectarian tirade after being caught with knife in his trousers

Perth man was arrested after police spotted a bread knife sticking out of the waistband of his trousers in a busy street. But when 29-year-old George Stewart was handcuffed and taken to police headquarters in Dundee, he caused absolute mayhem.Perth Sheriff Court was told he started to bang his head off the cage inside the police van and unleashed a tirade of racial and religious abuse at a female officer who spoke with an Irish accent.

The accused, said to be “confused and emotional,” called PC Julie Hoskins an “Irish c***” and told her to “go back to where she came from”.
