Perthshire curler Eve Muirhead delighted those who tuned in for Hogmanay 2022 last night. The Winter Olympics gold medallist proved that her talents go far beyond her impressive skills on the ice.Muirhead, who grew up in Blair Atholl, was a guest on the BBC show alongside track star Eilish McColgan and footballer Lyndon Dykes. When presenter Edith Bowman asked the trio if they had a party trick, Muirhead pulled out the pipes and had the room - and many watching from home - clapping and dancing along. She admitted it had been a while since she had played but received a huge ovation after completing her mini set.It rounded off a wonderful year for Muirhead, who won gold at the Winter Olympics in Beijing and later in the summer announced her retirement from competitive action.
She did so as an inspiration and role model to so many.Perhaps she will now be getting the call to perform the pipes at events and weddings throughout 2023!
