Sonic Team head Yuji Naka has confirmed that Michael Jackson created music for Sonic The Hedgehog 3.In a tweet posted today (June 23), Naka – who was also the producer for Sonic The Hedgehog 3 – confirmed a long-running rumour that Michael Jackson created music for the game.“Oh my god, the music for Sonic 3 has changed, even though Sega Official uses Michael Jackson’s music,” said Naka, expressing disappointment over Sega’s decision to change the music of Sonic The Hedgehog 3 for its re-release in Sonic Origins.One of the tracks changed in Sonic Origins is ‘Carnival Night Zone’, one of the songs that Jackson was rumoured to have created. In the below video, you can listen to the new tracks created for Sonic Origins in comparison to their original counterparts in Sonic The Hedgehog 3.Shortly after confirming Jackson’s involvement, Naka shared a picture of Jackson’s Neverland Ranch from above, which he says he took “when we went to his house in his helicopter”.This is a picture taken by me with my camera when we went to his house in his helicopter.

As well as this, he faces two fines totalling $1.2million (£935k).Naka committed the crime with fellow Square Enix employees Taisuke Sazaki and Fumiaki Suzuki in order to secure advantageous shares in developers Aiming and Ateam, based on information that had not been publicised about their games Dragon Quest Tact and Final Fantasy 7: The First Soldier.In November 2022, the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office arrested Naka and charged him with violating the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act of 2006 for his $20,000 (£16k) shares in Aiming.

Sonic Team boss Yuji Naka thinks the sale of a Sonic game is a scam. Via Eurogamer, and quoting a tweet from Goldin Auctions, where the original Sonic The Hedgehog sold for $430,500 (roughly £315,175), Naka wrote “what’s this? Is it a scam? That’s a scam right? I wondered if it was time for Sonic to reach a high,” and he added that he “saw the news that Mario was sold at a high price recently, so I thought Sonic was also a high price, but it’s different.

Sonic the Hedgehog, has apparently left Square Enix following the disappointing release of Balan Wonderworld.As reported in VGC, the veteran developer had updated both his Facebook and LinkedIn pages overnight (June 3), which show that his employment at the Japanesepublisher ended in April.Naka had joined Square Enix in 2018 to create new platformer Balan Wonderworld under a new studio named Balan Company.He was also reunited with Sonic co-creator Naoto Ohshima, who designed the game characters and costumes, albeit via his own company Arzest.However, the game released in March to overwhelmingly negative reviews, the poor reception having begun with a disappointing demo released in January.

Square Enix has announced a new game called Balan Wonderworld, helmed by creative talent behind the Sonic The Hedgehog series.Balan Wonderworld is a family friendly platformer and is expected to release for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch in Spring 2021.Director Yuji Naka and character designer Naoto Ohshima are both renowned for their work bringing Sonic The Hedgehog to life. Balan Wonderworld marks the first time in 20 years the duo have collaborated together.The game takes place in a magical land where players will control characters Leo and Emma across many stages.
