Trixie Mattel is opening the doors of her motel to HGTV with the renovation series Trixie Motel: Drag Me Home.

Trixie Mattel and her beloved reality series Trixie Motel have reason to rejoice as the show gears up for an eagerly awaited second season.In a delightful and somewhat unexpected turn of events, news broke recently that Trixie Mattel and her partner David Silver have signed on to produce a second season of Trixie Motel.The duo shared the good news with their devoted fanbase via an Instagram post that featured a photograph of the couple and a caption that kept things simple, but got the message across: “And we’re back #TMseason2.” Last year, drag enthusiasts were treated to an especially pink spectacle as RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 3 winner Mattel embarked on a new business journey, one which was televised for all to see.The adventure saw Mattel and her partner David Silver purchase, and completely redesign and renovate, a motel in Palm Springs. A post shared by David Silver (@dvdslvr)The show originally premiered on Discovery+, but now fans can watch it on Max, as the two streamers are part of a Warner Bros.-Discovery merger that occurred not long ago.

Among the initiatives will be partnerships with Them and Newfest to help amplify queer voices, stories and content. The streamer has planned an in-app Pride takeover of the LGBTQ+ Voices page which will highlight queer content premiering in June. Among the programs will be the premiere of the HBO documentary “The Stroll,” which tells the powerful and poignant history of transgender sex workers in New York’s pre-gentrified meatpacking district in the 1990s. The Max original documentary reality series “Naked. Loud. Proud.” will stream. HBO documentaries “Rock Hudson: All That Heaven Allowed” and TaylorMac’s “24-Decade History of Popular Music” are set to air.

Trixie Mattel is taking on her most ambitious project yet: renovating a rundown Palm Springs, California, motel alongside boyfriend and co-owner David Silver for the Discovery+ series .The pair had four months and a limited budget in order to turn the property into what Trixie dubs, “a kind of retro pink, ‘60s desert paradise.” But as seen on the eight-part series so far, this transformation is no easy feat. “People take a year to renovate their living room and then they get a divorce. So, for me and my partner to stay in love on television and renovate an entire commercial property, I mean, every day we had to both freak out and then give ourselves permission to freak out when we were doing something insane,” Trixie tells ET’s Lauren Zima. Needless to say, the process has been stressful.

Drag Race All-Stars winner had her hand in a number of different industries and projects before the world shut down, and now that people can travel again and attend large in-person events once more (relatively safely, that is), the drag queen otherwise known as Brian Firkus is working overtime.In 2022 alone, Mattel has all of the following projects coming up or currently in progress: a drag tour with best friend Katya that extends into the end of the year; a musical tour of Europe that will see Trixie performing her signature blend of country, pop, and Americana; her two web series UNHhhh and Netflix’s I Like to Watch (both with Katya), each of which have new episodes on the horizon; a new book (again with Katya) about God and drag, publishing in October; running her company Trixie Cosmetics; her weekly newsletter GOOPED (once again, with Katya); the summer release of her double CD The Blonde & Pink Albums, which have already launched several singles; and the opening of her Palm Springs motel, the creation of which will be chronicled in her upcoming docuseries Trixie Motel, scheduled to begin airing on Discovery+ on June 1.Just one of those projects would be enough to keep anyone busy, but somehow, Mattel has the energy, time, and talent to not only keep them all going, but to ensure they’re all going to be incredibly successful.Her track record as one of the hardest-working and potentially one of the wealthiest queens to emerge from Drag Race (though Mattel is shy about touting her own financial prowess) suggests that her empire will only keep expanding, and at a surprisingly rapid rate.
