Cyclists urged to be mindful of walkers on cycle paths
During the period of Covid-19 lockdown one of the underlying benefits is that more people are out and about, walking, running and cycling.West Lothian Council has seen a rise in use of the area’s extensive traffic free path networks including the Union Canal and National Cycle Route 75.However, the local authority is asking cyclists not to race on shared use paths, telling bike riders to slow down on paths, which are also used by pedestrians, wheelchair users, dog walkers and horse riders.Tom Conn, executive councillor for the environment said it’s important that the areas are safe and comfortable for everyone to enjoy.He said: “Although the evidence shows that conflict between cyclists and pedestrians on traffic-free routes is rare, the
