Laurine Garaude, the former head of the Mip television markets, has resurfaced at TV demand data firm Parrot Analytics.

MipTV is going online in 2021. The international television conference, which this year was one of the first industry events forced to cancel in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, will go all-virtual next year.

MipTV in April is moving online as the pandemic continues to wreak havoc with the film and TV calendars.

The Mipcom international television market — typically the buzziest and most industry-defying event of the year — wrapped without much fuss on Friday. The virtual-only MIPCOM Online+ had plenty to recommend it — including A-list virtual Q&As with the likes of Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos and multi-hyphenate Tyler Perry (this year's MIPCOM Trendsetter award winner)— and there was a steady flow of announcements and deals.

While there were hopes the Cannes affair could take place in person this October, organizer Reed Midem revealed in September that the market would go virtual — and judging by the fast-rising COVID-19 count in France and toughening restrictions, that was probably a wise idea.

The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences on Tuesday announced the 2020 International Emmy Kids Awards online and via social channels rather than on stage in Cannes after MIPTV was canceled amid the novel coronavirus outbreak. "We decided to keep the winners’ announcement for the same day the awards ceremony would have been held in Cannes,” said International Academy president Bruce L.

Reed MIDEM announces that Midem 2020, which was due to take place June 2-5 in Cannes, is cancelled due to concerns about the coronavirus. The next edition of Midem will take place June 1-4, 2021, in Cannes.

Reed Midem launches its MipTV Online Plus initiative Monday as a digital alternative to the conference that was scheduled to open on the same day in Cannes, but it includes many of the elements that were planned for the physical event.
