Scots mum tells how life was turned around by burlesque after years of abuse
burlesque dancing.Kirsty Barr suffered years of violent attacks before summoning the courage to go to the police which ended in him being convicted.Now the mum from Alloa has reclaimed her life as one of Scotland’s most successful burlesque dancers.Kirsty dresses in silk basques, fishnet stockings and high heels to teach fellow abuse victims as well as performing live on stage.The former hair salon owner, who suffered post-traumatic stress disorder after giving evidence against her abuser, is also heading a UK-wide project to teach young girls how to achieve self-confidence and assertiveness through modern dance.Her life changed when she saw an advert on Facebook for a course teaching how to become an instructor in Burlesque Chair
