Castle Douglas family have "extremely lucky" escape after being cut off by tide on Solway coast
HM Coastguard’s senior maritime operations officer Graham Edgar added: “The family were extremely lucky, the tide can change quickly and you can easily get caught out if you’re not prepared.’“If you’re going for a walk along the coast remember, check the tides and weather before heading out, wear appropriate clothing, tell someone where you are going and when you will be back, take a fully charged mobile phone and if the worst should happen call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.”
