Stockport schools to close early for Christmas to prevent families having to isolate
a similar move by Focus Trust, which runs seven primaries in Greater Manchester, Stockport council has given permission for schools to close two days earlier than planned. Those that were scheduled to be open on Monday, December 21 and Tuesday, December 22, will close on the Friday before instead and offer home learning to pupils over the two days.In a letter to schools and education settings today, Monday, the council's director of children's services Chris McLoughlin, said: "After a challenging autumn term, we would like to ensure that as many children, young people and families as possible are able to enjoy a well-earned break without being asked to self-isolate.
