Pensioner dies after being hit by bus in Edinburgh city centre

A pensioner has died after being struck by a bus on a major road in Edinburgh.The 79-year-old had been on Haymarket Terrace in the city centre before he was hit by the vehicle on Saturday, February 4.

Emergency services raced to the scene at 5.35pm, but the man was sadly pronounced dead the the scene. Police have launched an investigation into the collision and have urged anybody who was in the area at the time of the incident to come forward.Sergeant Barry Sommerville, from the Edinburgh Road Policing Unit, said: “At this time, our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of the man who died.
