Penny Lancaster recalled an embarrassing meeting with King Charles III but said the royal completely put her at ease. The former model, and wife of Rod Stewart, was interviewed on Good Morning Britain by hosts Susanna Reid and Ben Shepard for a special instalment of the ITV news programme dedicated to the late monarch.

The Loose Woman panellist, 51, recalled that she once had the opportunity to sit with King Charles at a royal dinner. "Of course, I was terribly nervous about the whole thing," she added. "Just like his mother, he put me at ease." She continued: "I meant to remove some food from a platter to try and get it onto my plate and it dropped between my plate and his on this white table cloth."Ben and Susanna cringed as Penny carried on explaining the embarrassing tale to ITV viewers.

Penny exclaimed: "I thought I was going to be dragged by my hair out of the room, never to be seen again."And without one single word, [King Charles] gave me that look of don't worry.
