Tributes have flooded in across Scotland for Pele, including one junior football team who hold the remarkable claim of the Brazilian being the "greatest to ever have graced" their pitch.The Brazil footballing icon died on Thursday from colon cancer, aged 82, and was regarded by many as the greatest player of all time.As well as the iconic number 10 being the only person to collect three World Cup winners' medals, the global superstar once visited the Scottish seaside town of Troon.Pele and his fellow Brazil stars had been in Scotland for a training camp the month before the 1966 World Cup finals in England.

On Twitter this evening, Troon FC said: "Desperately saddened to hear of the passing of Edson Arantes do Nascimento, best known as @Pele"Arguably the greatest player to have ever played the game, and certainly the greatest to ever have graced Portland Park.

Quite simply, a legend. #RIP #RIPPele #Pele."Bryan Weddell, who was photographed with Pele, said in 2014 about the visit: "I remember word getting round that they were staying at the Marine Hotel and going to Troon Juniors' ground at Portland Park for training."I went along with a crowd of friends and we hung about outside the park - and, sure enough, out came Pele and the rest of the team."He was, of course, the most recognisable and I asked if he would sign my autograph book.

He just said, 'sure'.
