Pedestrian in critical condition after being 'hit by bus' on Edinburgh road

A man has been rushed to hospital after being 'hit by a bus' in Edinburgh city centre. The incident unfolded at around 8pm on Wednesday January 11 when officers were called to a crash involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on Nicolson Street.

Emergency services, including Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service, sped to the scene and the 51-year-old victim was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with serious injuries.

His condition is described as critical.No one else was injured. Eyewitnesses reported seeing a Lothian Bus with smashed windows abandoned in the middle of the road surrounded by debris following the collision, according to EdinburghLive.The major road was also locked down by cops and a cordon was erected around the affected area while crash site investigators carried out enquiries, which are continuing.
