Martin Scorsese
Martin Charles Scorsese Italian (born November 17, 1942) is an American filmmaker and actor, whose career spans more than 50 years. Part of the New Hollywood wave of filmmaking, he is widely regarded as one of the most significant and influential filmmakers in cinematic history. Scorsese's body of work explores such themes as Italian-American identity, Catholic concepts of guilt and redemption? faith, machismo, modern crime, and gang conflict. Many of his films are also known for their depiction of violence and liberal use of profanity. In 1990, he founded The Film Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to film preservation, and in 2007 he founded the World Cinema Foundation. He is a recipient of the AFI Life Achievement Award for his contributions to the cinema, and has won an Academy Award, a Palme d'Or, Cannes Film Festival Best Director Award, Silver Lion, Grammy Award, Emmys, Golden Globes, BAFTAs, and Directors Guild of America Awards.

Paul Thomas Anderson and Steven Spielberg to Appear at TCM Festival for Warner Bros Centennial

The 14th annual TCM Classic Film Festival will open with a restoration of “Rio Bravo” (1959) and appearance by Paul Thomas Anderson and Steven Spielberg in celebration of Warner Bros.’ 100th anniversary.Running from April 13-16 in Hollywood, the program will open with a conversation between TCM host Ben Mankiewicz and “Rio Bravo” star Angie Dickinson, who starred alongside John Wayne, Dean Martin and Ricky Nelson.

The screening will mark the world premiere of the 4k restoration of the Warner Bros. Western, in partnership with the Film Foundation.Film Foundation members Anderson and Spielberg will take the stage to commemorate the studio’s centennial anniversary, following their appearance at last year’s event.

Along with Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola and other directors, Spielberg is a founding member of the organization that seeks to preserve and educate the public about American heritage films.

Anderson joined in 2006.Under the theme “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet!” this year’s program will center around film legacies, including landmark Warner Bros.
