Health experts have warned the symptoms of a painful condition are often triggered by cold temperatures as the UK prepares to be hit with a ‘cold snap’.

Raynaud’s disease is a condition that affects one in six Brits that causes pain, numbness and pins and needles in the fingers and toes.

It happens when blood vessels narrow – usually in response to cold weather – which limits blood to the area. This Raynaud’s Awareness Month, experts have warned to keep an eye on your health as the Met Office predicts a “500-mile wall” of wintery weather is about to hit the UK.

The health charity Scleroderma & Raynaud’s UK (SRUK) has previously reported that Raynaud’s is as common as hay fever or arthritis in the UK, yet more than 24 million Brits cannot name any symptoms.
