As well as presenting the beloved show, Page – a dedicated conservationist – was also a prolific writer, with plenty of newspaper columns as well as best-selling books under his belt.
He was famously good friends with King Charles III, with both bonding over their love of the countryside. Page had co-founded charity Countryside Restoration Trust, who said they had learned of his death ‘with great sadness. ’In a tribute, they described him as ‘a countryside champion with a maverick spirit,’ and that ‘although in recent times he was no longer involved in our operations, we are all reflecting on his role in creating a robust charity that remains focused on promoting sustainable farming, and reconnecting people with the wider countryside. ’Got a story?
