Glen Kamara from his town's mayor. Martin Zalesak, mayor of Pitin where the defender was raised, bizarrely compared the Slavia Prague defender to a Czech Archbishop imprisoned by Soviet communists.

Kudela was hit with a 10-game ban after being found to have racially abused Rangers star Kamara in March's explosive Europa League last 16 second leg tie.

Far from being viewed as an outcast in his own country, Czech politicians and commentators have been queuing up to support the 34-year-old, who will also miss the European Championships.

And Zalesak believes UEFA 's punishment will make the Slavia defender a martyr, shamefully insisting Rangers deserved a retaliation after "behaving like butchers" during the game.
