Nursing reunion for East Kilbride hospital's 'Class of 72'

The Hairmyres Hospital 'Class of 72' nursing contingent reminisced at a special anniversary reunion recently.Some eight members of the group who began their nursing training 50 years ago met for a lunch and shared tales of high-jinks and memories from their days at the old Hairmyres.Having held a similar event for the 25th anniversary, two of the class, Liz Whitely and Anne Reynolds, talked about organising a get-together to mark 50 years.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Liz, 67, who grew up and lived in East Kilbride before moving to Nottinghamshire in 2008, told Lanarkshire Live: "We started our nursing studies 50 years ago in Hairmyres and we wanted to get together to share our life experiences since we qualified. "I started doing a bit of digging on Facebook, found some folk and also managed to get addresses and emails to contact them.

There were a couple of people who myself and Anne had stayed in touch with over the years too as well."We had lunch in Roccas in Hamilton and although we had a few missing, who were either deceased, living abroad or unable to join us, we had an amazing day.
