Noel Gallagher is giving up the booze after drinking too much cider in lockdown when he couldn't head out to the pubs. He announced that from September 12 he will be trying to ditch the drink, as he had commitments and parties up until September 11.

He told Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2: "I never used to drink at home as rule, ever. If I wanted a drink, I would go out to the pub and have a drink. "I started drinking at home during lockdown and got right into it."It was just red wine and cider, not in the same glass.

I drank a lot of red wine."Because I live out in Hampshire, the local cider is pretty spectacular."The good thing about country cider is you can’t have that much of it or you lose the use of your legs."The former Oasis frontman.
