No gun was found in the car of a man who was fatally shot by armed officers following a chase in south London, according to a police watchdog.

Chris Kaba, 24, died following a pursuit that ended in Streatham Hill on Monday night. Following a chase by police, the man's Audi was blocked off by two police cars in the narrow residential street Kirkstall Gardens before police fired one round.

Officers immediately administered CPR with Mr Kaba being taken to hospital where he later died in the evening, the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) confirmed.

The watchdog added that it was understood police had attempted to stop him after the activation of an automatic number plate recognition camera, indicating that the car was linked to a firearms incident that took place in previous days.
