Downing Street said chancellor Rishi Sunak will give further information on the next steps for the temporary increase on Universal Credit “shortly” and insisted a decision on whether or not it would continue was still to be made. “We know it runs out at the end of March, we know that households want to know what is coming next and he is going to come forward with more information shortly,” Allegra Stratton, the PM's press secretary said.She declined to state when the chancellor would make his update, other than saying it would come “ahead.
