Nicola Sturgeon has said Scots should not be "pressing the panic button" over growing concerns about a new variant of covid discovered in southern Africa.

The First Minister said today more expert analysis was required of the strain to understand its potential threat. The Scottish Government last night announced travellers from six countries - South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Zimbabwe and Botswana - will be required to self-isolate and take two PCR tests when arriving in the country.
