The heartbroken partner of mum-of-two Nicola Bulley says he sees her in their two girls, 18 months on from her tragic accidental death.

The disappearance of Nicola, 45, at the end of January last year led to a 23-day police search and huge media attention and coverage on social media.

A new BBC documentary looks back on what happened and the frenzy of interest which took its toll on Nicola’s family. But her partner of 11 years, Paul Ansell, says he still sees parts of Nicola in the characteristics of the couple's two daughters. "Nikki was so beautiful," he says. "She didn't know it.

There were no airs and graces about her. I see her in the girls every single day. I see all these little mannerisms in them and I'm like 'that was mummy, you know?' And that is worth everything, I think." "One morning, I got up," Nicola’s mother Dorothy, tells the programme. "The youngest one, she says 'cold, isn't it, nanny? - I hope mummy’s not cold and hungry'." They also become teary as they remember the day their hopes of finding Nicola alive were ended. "I’ll never forget the cries," says Nicola’s dad Ernest, who describes hugging his son-in-law Paul as they tried to process the news that Nicola was never coming home.
