Nick Knowles is understood to be waiting for the BBC to give him the go-ahead to take part in Strictly Come Dancing this Saturday over fears he could "aggravate an arm and shoulder injury" which he sustained while changing a tyre.
However, the 62-year-old believes he will be able to perform the American Smooth with his professional partner Luba Mushtuk, according to The Sun. “Nick is desperate to carry on and is insisting he is fine to perform but the BBC are naturally wary," a source told the publication. “If Nick continues and does more damage to himself in the long run it puts them in a tricky position.
His health comes first but Nick is pleading with them to continue.” The television presenter was seen in a rehearsal studio with Luba on Wednesday sporting a sling. “Nick needs to learn a whole routine, he has barely any time at all," the source added just days ahead of the live show on BBC One.
If he is cleared he will need to learn quickly. Luba is an amazing teacher and she is confident they can do it. But, ultimately, it might get to a point that the BBC just put their foot down.” Nick reportedly hurt himself while changing a tyre the day after his first live performance with 34-year-old Luba.
