Newcastle United will only entertain a deal with Jesse Lingard if he agrees to reduce his wage demands, according to reports.
The midfielder is one of four out-of-contract players to leave Manchester United this summer, Paul Pogba being another. Money-backed Newcastle are expected to have a statement summer transfer window with it being their first since the takeover.
One of their targets is Lingard, but negotiations hit a stumbling block when they learned of the player’s salary expectations.
There had been suggestions that the Magpies has backed away from a deal, but it seems this is not entirely the case.
