New case of coronavirus in Bolton with 23 now confirmed in Greater Manchester

A third case of coronavirus has been confirmed in Bolton . Council bosses announced the third case on Tuesday, but added that the risk to the public remains 'very low'.

Bolton's first case was confirmed last week before a second was announced at the weekend. It is not known whether the latest is connected to either of the other two.

No more details on the patient have been released due to patient confidentiality. Director of Public Health at Bolton Council , Dr Helen Lowey, said: “We understand that the announcement of additional cases may cause concern but we want to reassure residents that we are continuing to work closely with Public Health England, the NHS and all our health and care partners to prevent further spread of the virus."
