Neil Lennon

Neil Francis Lennon (born 25 June 1971) is a Northern Irish football coach and former player who is the manager of Scottish Premiership club Celtic. During his playing career he represented English clubs Manchester City, Crewe Alexandra and Leicester City.

Lennon moved to Scottish club Celtic in 2000, where he made over 200 appearances and was appointed captain in 2005. Before retiring as a player, he returned to England and played for Nottingham Forest and Wycombe Wanderers. Lennon made 40 appearances for Northern Ireland in nine years, scoring two goals. Lennon was appointed manager of Celtic in March 2010, initially in a caretaker capacity after the departure of Tony Mowbray.

Celtic boss was unhappy the Scottish government stepped in and cancelled games after Boli Bolingoli’s breach while other clubs have managed to avoid similar sanctions.

But Lennon believes the seven game bans handed out to Ibrox pair George Edmundson and Jordan Jones is a clear message to the rest of the game.

He said: “I made the points about the government response a couple of weeks go and I was more annoyed about how we were treated.“There was a discrepancy in the way we were treated.“The sanctions on the (Rangers) players are very heavy and I think that should be a warning for everyone associated with the game.“The rules are there now and we have to abide by them or you’ll get severely punished.
