Neil Lennon

Neil Francis Lennon (born 25 June 1971) is a Northern Irish football coach and former player who is the manager of Scottish Premiership club Celtic. During his playing career he represented English clubs Manchester City, Crewe Alexandra and Leicester City.

Lennon moved to Scottish club Celtic in 2000, where he made over 200 appearances and was appointed captain in 2005. Before retiring as a player, he returned to England and played for Nottingham Forest and Wycombe Wanderers. Lennon made 40 appearances for Northern Ireland in nine years, scoring two goals. Lennon was appointed manager of Celtic in March 2010, initially in a caretaker capacity after the departure of Tony Mowbray.

Neil Lennon has pleaded with fans not to repeat the scenes that unfolded after the Betfred Cup defeat to Ross County. A 2-0 home defeat saw fans turn out outside the stadium to call for the manager to go, with players targeted with missiles as they left Celtic Park.The board pledged to identify the troublemakers, while Lennon warned supporters that their actions would not help his team turn their form around.

Thursday's 4-2 loss to Milan in the Europa League extended Celtic 's miserable run to just two wins in 11 games. They face St Johnstone at Parkhead on Sunday and with Rangers playing in the early kick-off a failure to win could prove disastrous for their title hopes.
