Neil Diamond Only Recently Accepted His Parkinson’s Diagnosis After Five Years

It’s been five years since Neil Diamond was first diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, and only now is he coming to terms with it.

Parkinson’s is a “progressive disorder that affects the nervous system and the parts of the body controlled by the nerves,” according to the Mayo Clinic, and the 82-year-old singer admits he was in denial for several years about having the disease. “I’m still doing it.

And I don’t like it,” Diamond tells Anthony Mason on “CBS Sunday Morning”. “But … this is me; this is what I have to accept.

And I’m willing to do it. And, OK, so this is the hand that God’s given me, and I have to make the best of it, and so I am.
