Residents are complaining of infestations in Dukinfield and Hyde. But one experienced pest controller says the vermin are 'everywhere' and warned 'the numbers are exploding'.

The problem came to light after Louise, a Dukinfield resident, who asked for her surname to be withheld, asked members of Dukinfield Community Facebook group if anyone else was having trouble with rats after spotting some in her garden.

And dozens of people replied saying they were having similar issues. Vicki Cullen wrote: "Seen about 20 at least in Hyde Park on the walk home from school!
