Murderer who killed boy over threat to expose gay relationship has jail term slashed

The schoolboy's barely clothed body was found by bin collectors on a country lane in Cheshire in December 2019. Mason had sought to lure Alex to a secluded wooded area before then using a wooden wrench to repeatedly beat him, with an estimated 15 blows to his head and body.

The teenager denied murdering Alex during a trial held at Cheshire Crown Court claiming it was self-defence and a partial defence of loss of control.
