A talented musician who waited nearly 10 hours in A&E before collapsing and dying had been wrongly sent home with antibiotics just days earlier.

Ellis Thompson passed away on the morning of May 17, 2022, at Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI). The 31-year-old, from Gloucestershire, attended the hospital three days earlier and had been diagnosed with a chest infection and incorrectly discharged.
