ITV bosses could be facing a grilling by MPs during a meeting where ITV will give evidence on the Culture, Media and Sport committee. The meeting, which was arranged before Phillip Schofield quit This Morning and admitted to an affair, will be about updating broadcasting rules in the new Media Bill.

However, after ITV’s ongoing drama with the former This Morning presenter, it is thought MP’s will likely focus on the broadcaster's recent revelations and the work environment which has been called “toxic” by previous employees.

ITV has just applied to renew its licence to watchdog Ofcom as it expires next year. The show was labelled as “toxic” by former ITV employee Dr Ranj Singh, however, a spokesperson at ITV said the complaint made by Dr Ranj was reviewed by an external and independent advisor at the time and "no evidence of bullying or discrimination" was found. This follows after the Prince's Trust said it was “no longer appropriate” for Phillip to continue as an ambassador for the chastity following Phil admitting to having lied to ITV regarding an affair.

A Prince’s Trust spokesperson told OK!: “In light of Phillip’s recent admissions, we have agreed with him that it is no longer appropriate to work together.” Punters at Aspers bookmakers are now backing that Phillip will follow in MP Matt Hancock’s footsteps and appear on the next series of I’m A Celebrity to try and win public support. The Mirror reported that a spokesman for Aspers said: “Customers are jumping on the idea of Schofield going for a no-holds barred rumble in the jungle, probably tears and all, to try and fix his reputation.
