Mountain rescue teams join search for man who vanished while climbing Ben Nevis

Two mountain rescue teams have joined the search for a man who vanished while climbing Ben Nevis.Police issued an appeal to try and trace Harvey Christian, 42, from Cambridgeshire who is believed to have climbed the mountain on Friday, January 27, but has not been seen since.Glencoe Mountain Rescue joined forces with their Lochaber counterparts today, January 29, to join the search on Ben Nevis in challenging conditions, with high winds and heavy rain hampering their efforts.National Search and Rescue Dogs, along with their handlers, also joined the hunt to locate Harvey Christian.

The search will resume again on Monday.A spokesperson for Glencoe Mountain Rescue explained: "A small team were out today in some 'interesting' conditions to assist Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team in the search for Harvey Christian who is believed to be missing in the vicinity of Ben Nevis."Very difficult conditions with high winds driving heavy rain making searching incredibly hard.

SARDA dogs and handlers were also out on the hill."Thank you to our colleagues at Lochaber for making sure we were well fed and watered before heading home."A Police Scotland spokesperson said "Police in Lochaber is appealing for the public's assistance in tracing missing person Harvey Christian (42) from Cambridgeshire."Harvey is believed to have climbed Ben Nevis on Friday, 27th January 2023 and not returned."Police are concerned for the welfare of Harvey and are keen to trace him as soon as possible."We suspect that he is in the area of Ben Nevis and would appeal to any hillwalkers who have visited since the 27th of January 2023 who may have information."Anyone with information is asked to contact 101 quoting incident 3318 of 28th January 2023."
