Motherwell defender Paul McGinn has issued a rallying cry to the Fir Park faithful urging them to get right behind the team this week, as they bid to fire themselves out of the relegation mire.The Steelmen suffered a 1-0 defeat at St Mirren on Saturday that leaves them joint-bottom of the table with three other clubs, all on 20 points.They join Kilmarnock, Ross County and Dundee United in a four-way battle for survival and sit ninth by virtue of a better goal difference, with a game in hand over Killie and County.Eighth place St Johnstone come calling tomorrow night before a trip to managerless Aberdeen on Saturday and McGinn knows it is a massive period for the club after a run of nine Premiership games without a win.And he has called on their frustrated fan base to back the boys as they seek a first home win in the top flight since August.McGinn, whose side have won just three league games at home in the last year, said: “This is when we need the fans.“We don’t need them to be on our backs – which I can completely understand because I’ve been a football fan all my life as well and it is what you do – but I think the whole town has got to come together.“I don’t think we are miles off [turning it around].“You can’t tell me that St Mirren are a better team than us.“We shouldn’t be where we are, but it is time we all got together to get ourselves back up the table.“I am pretty confident we will do that, but we could do with the fans [behind us].“We can drag St Johnstone back into on Wednesday because they got beat on Saturday as well, so that’s a massive game coming up.”Meanwhile, club captain Liam Kelly is eager to set their home record straight at Fir Park as the Steelmen also seek a first win over Saints this season,
