Kevin van Veen volleyed in his 12th goal of the season to earn Motherwell a point at Livingston on Monday – and would swap every one of them for a higher berth in the Premiership table. That’s already one more than he managed for the whole of last season, but the Dutchman doesn’t want to net 15 or 20 times, only for the Steelmen to end up in a relegation battle.Van Veen and his team-mates are preparing for a crack at Hibs at Fir Park on Sunday, and he knows that scoring it’s the problem, it’s keeping it tight at the other end.He said: “I don’t feel any pressure to get goals, but I do feel responsible.“I feel like there’s a certain weight on my shoulders, because I can help the team.“I think I’ve got the ability to maybe turn a game around or score important goals at the right moment – but I do feel I could have done better than I have been doing.“I have scored quite a few goals, but I think there have been a few games where I’ve been scratching the back of my head.“Maybe I could have finished that, or hitting the crossbar against Livingston on Monday – I was off-balance but if I had my body shape right I could have put it in the back of the net, helping my team by us going 2-1 up instead of 1-1.“I am very happy where I am on a personal note, but I would trade goals success for team success, for us to be higher up in the league and to be successful as a team.“I might score 15 or 20 goals this season and have nothing to show for it, team-wise, so I’d rather have success for the team.”Van Veen added: “Personally, it’s OK.

It’s not overly amazing, it’s not bad either, but I would trade all of that in to be successful as a team.“I can score as many goals as I want, but still stay in the bottom of the table.
