Motherwell captain Liam Kelly admitted his side let everyone down as they lost 3-1 to Championship side Raith Rovers in the Scottish Cup fifth round.A Jamie Gullan penalty and a strike by Sam Stanton had Rovers pretty much home and dry by the interval, and though a Kevin van Veen strike gave Motherwell hope of a turnaround, that was quickly dispelled and on-loan Livi star Esmael Goncalves struck a late third to seal the win.An emotional Kelly said not one single member of the team can hold their head up, and that they had let down their manager Steven Hammell, even before it emerged that he had left the club.He said: “Individually, collectively it’s not good enough.“I’m not in a position to say anything about anybody else, when I’m performing like that, so the responsibility is on us as players.“We give away terrible goals at terrible times, and I’m gutted, embarrassed, really disappointed.“I was desperate to win the game, absolutely desperate, but we were just not good enough.

That’s just how it was.“It can’t keep going on like this.“We’re absolutely desperate to get it right, but confidence is low just now, it’s clear for everyone to see.

We’re really low on confidence and they were opposite.“Raith Rovers came off the back of a really good result against Dundee and got to a [SPFL Trust Trophy] cup final, and you feel the difference.“We’re getting beat all the time.

We’ve let them down so bad, we know that, we’re aware of that.“The boys are gutted, they’re devastated, we feel as though we’ve let the club down, the manager down and most of all we’ve let the supporters down.”Kelly added: “The manager is a really good guy and we’ve let him down massively.
