Millions of households are missing out on discounted broadband deals which they are eligible for, the latest research from Ofcom has shown.

Just five percent of UK homes that fit the criteria for so-called "Social Tariffs" have actually signed up for them. The tariffs offer cut-price rates and do not ask customers to sign up for long-term contracts, helping to save hundreds of pounds annually.

The plans are available via all of the major Internet Service Providers (ISPs), reports the Express. Now, broadband users across the country are being urged to check whether they could make the switch. Ofcom says it's now concerned that broadband providers still aren’t being upfront with millions of customers about how to find and sign up for these packages.
