Michelle Mone probed over 'links' to £200m PPE firm and 'breaching' Lords code

Michelle Mone is being investigated over whether she 'sought to profit' over her House of Lords membership. The Tory peer is allegedly connected to PPE Medpro, a firm that banked £200million worth of Government PPE contracts.

The business landed two contracts to supply the NHS with face masks and surgical gowns, the Mirror reports. These were worth £203million combined.

Lingerie tycoon Mone, denies being linked to the company.But the 50-year-old recommended them as a potential supplier to the Cabinet Office in May 2020.The House of Lords Commissioners for Standards on Monday evening announced a formal investigationThe former Ultimo bra boss will be scrutinised by the probe which aims to determine whether or not she breached seven parts of the House of Lords Code of Conduct.Baroness Mone said in a statement: “I completely refute these allegations.“I was asked to help at a time of national emergency.

I declared all necessary interests and have done nothing wrong.“I will cooperate fully with any investigation.”The paragraphs of the Code of Conduct over which Baroness Mone is being investigated are:Leaked files this month appeared to suggest that the Conservative Baroness and her husband, Douglas Barrowman, were involved in PPE Medpro.However, her lawyers said she “was not connected to PPE Medpro in any capacity”, had no “association” with PPE Medpro, and “never had any role or function in PPE Medpro, nor in the process by which contracts were awarded” to the company, according to the Guardian.
