Martin Lewis has provided an optimistic prediction as people all across the country grow anxious over their bills going up in April.

The money-saving champion appeared on Tuesday's edition of Money Show live to discuss energy bills after Ofgem confirmed it will reduce the price cap in April by £1,000, bringing the total to £3,300 for the average household.

Meanwhile, chancellor Jeremy Hunt proposed an increase to the energy price guarantee in April, which would rise the average household bill by 20 per cent.

Martin declared the proposed increase as 'perverse' and has been campaigning to delay the rise until at least July when it is believed the price cap may drop below the current price guarantee.
