Married at First Sight Australia star Chris Jenson has escaped prison time after receiving a suspended four-year prison sentence for drug trafficking in court on Friday. The 2021 contestant, 34, was charged for drug trafficking after he was arrested in October 2017, when he was 29, after 197g of cannabis and $5800 in cash was discovered by police at his Sunshine Coast home in Australia.

Jenson was later allowed out on bail, during which time he was able to make his stint on MAFS. Queensland Supreme Court Justice Paul Freeburn announced the charges in Brisbane Supreme Court as he warned that a prison sentence would normally be given in this situation, however he called Jenson's case “extraordinary”.

Jenson was arrested in the midst of an operation that was carried out by the Queensland Police which aimed to tackle the drug trafficking taking place on the Sunshine Coast.

The court heard that Jenson purchased wholesale amounts of cannabis, and in some instances, cocaine and MDMA, which he supplied to customers over a four-month period in the suburb of Peregian Springs in the region.
