Marina has announced that after 14 years of being signed to a major label, she's now an independent artist. Taking to the stage at London's O2 Academy Brixton on May 22, Marina told the crowd that 2021 album Ancient Dreams In A Modern Land would be her last to be released by Atlantic Records.  "After 14 years of being signed, after five albums," Marina announced on stage, "Ancient Dreams is my last record with Atlantic Records. "I want to share my independence with you!" Marina originally signed with Atlantic and subsidiary labels Neon Gold and 679 as Marina and the Diamonds.

She released five albums in her time with the major; The Family Jewels (2010), Electra Heart (2012), Froot (2015), Love & Fear (2019) and Ancient Dreams In A Modern Land (2021).

Overall, she achieved three Top 10 albums and six UK Top 40 singles; sophomore electro-pop collection Electra Heart debuted at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart in 2012, becoming Marina's first and so-far only chart-topping LP.
